This document prepared by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) identifies strategic opportunities with the goal of contributing to the transformation of rural Lesotho towards a more resilient and economically productive environment that allows its population to sustain their livelihoods and overcome poverty and malnutrition. It sets out to identify initiatives which can contribute to inclusive commercialisation of the rural economy and creating an enabling natural and business environment for sustainable and resilient rural transformation.

ABSTRACTED FROM EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Singapore’s present status of importing over 90 per cent of its domestic food consumption needs is a result of the city-state’s deliberate industrialisation policy to transform from third world to first over the past decades, reducing the farmlands for food production from about 15,000 hectares in the 1960s to about 600 hectares today to make room for higher value-adding industries.

This table provides a listing of official documents required for the legal recognition of land tenure rights and land transactions. The database covers 68 countries in the world, including most countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. This database was prepared for national statistical organizations, research institutes and others undertaking population surveys on land tenure. It will enable them to prepare questionnaires and facilitate the coding of land documents reported by respondents.

Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTFEC) in collaboration with National Soil Service Centre (NSSC), and Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) has undertaken the Evaluation and Learning (E&L) activity with financial support from Climate Investment Funds (CIF) for the project ‘Evaluation of Sustainable Land Management (SLM) and innovative financing to enhance climate resilience and food security in Bhutan’.

Liberia has long maintained a dual land tenure system over statutory and customary lands characterized by unclear terms of ownership. Most rural Liberians depend on common resources for their survival. These are largely communally owned;used and managed. But the Liberian government has effectively treated all un-deeded land as public land to be administered by the State. This has undermined the land rights of the majority.

Este es el primer estudio de Estimados de Apoyo al Productor que se ha realizado para Panamá, y es el resultado de la colaboración entre la iniciativa Agrimonitor del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) y el Ministerio de Desarrollo Agropecuario (MIDA) de Panamá.

Este estudio proporciona un análisis completo de la estructura de las políticas públicas de apoyo al sector agropecuario de Panamá, utilizando la metodología de la OCDE de Estimados de Apoyo al Productor (PSE en sus siglas en inglés). La metodología PSE se enfoca en dos elementos principales de apoyo: (i) el efecto de la política gubernamental sobre los precios recibidos por los productores agrícolas, y (ii) el apoyo proporcionado a través de transferencias presupuestarias al sector.

However milk;which is life sustaining in these communities;was found to be in short supply due to diminishing grazing pastures correlating with the introduction of commercial cattle ranches to the area. It is the impact of commercial ranches on pastoralists which has removed their buffer against droughts and thus dangerously threatened food security.
