Section 18 of the Agriculture Act 1986 gives the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food power to designate areas in England as environmentally sensitive areas where it appears to him particularly desirable to conserve, protect or enhance environmental features in those areas by the maintenance or adoption of particular agricultural methods. This Order designates areas in the Broads, Pennine Dales, Somerset Levels and Moors, South Downs and West Penwith as environmentally sensitive areas (art. 3).

The present Regulations are made so as to enhance the management of land use by the equity or non-equity joint ventures and wholly foreign-owned enterprises and to encourage foreign investment in the province. The location and limits of the site chosen by a foreign investment enterprise shall be subject to confirmation by local planning authorities. Procedures for the assignment initiate with an application for assignment by the foreign investment entity.

These Regulations are formulated in order to improve the management of land in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, to exploit its resources and to implement rational utilisation of the land. The Special Zone shall practice a system of "compensatory usage" and "compensatory assignment" of State owned land. A land user unit or individual shall be responsible for the protection, management and rational use of land allocated for its usage (art. 2).

This Law establishes cases in which transfer of ownership is allowed. Section 2 makes a list of classes of transactions to which the permission to transfer ownership is allowed. The prohibition to transfer ownership, as prescribed in the Basic Law, shall not affect acts designed solely to enable the observance of the commandment concerning the Sabbatical Year. Under section 4 the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Agriculture jointly are charged with the implementation of this Law and may make regulations as to any matter relating to such implementation.

This Decree makes provision for the surveying and mapping of land in relation to registration of land in the cadaster and in particular prescribes qualifications and describes functions of cadastral surveyors and assistant cadastral surveyors. These officials shall be appointed by Ministerial Decision in accordance with articles 6 to 16 and operate in the operation territory of a land Affairs Office (art. 10). They shall carry out measurement and mapping of land for purposes of land registration and division, partition or unification of plots of land.
