The AgWater Solutions Project aimed at designing agricultural water management (AWM) strategies for smallholder farmers in sub Saharan Africa and in India. La falta de acceso a recursos financieros es una de las razones por las que no se llevan a cabo actividades e inversiones forestales, a pesar de ser atractivas económica, social y ambientalmente. Es necesario, por tanto, una mejor comunicación e intercambio de información a fin de desarrollar estrategias e instrumentos financieros que sean sostenibles y adecuados a las necesidades del Manejo Forestal Comunitario (MFC). El presente documento realizará una revisión de los antecedentes sobre el financiamiento y los aspectos institucionales para el MFC en el ámbito de la Amazonía peruana.

Over the coming 35 years, agriculture will face an unprecedented confluence of pressures, including a 30 percent increase in the global population, intensifying competition for increasingly scarce land, water and energy resources, and the existential threat of climate change. To provide for a population projected to reach 9.3 billion in 2050 and support changing dietary patterns, estimates are that food production will need to increase from the current 8.4 billion tonnes to almost 13.5 billion tonnes a year.

The Agricultural Water Solutions Project aims to unlock the potential of smallholder farming by identifying, evaluating and recommending a variety of agricultural water management (AWM) solutions - including technologies as well as the necessary supporting policies, institutions, financing arrangements and associated business models. This is being achieved through a series of interlinked activities in the seven project sites in Africa (Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia) and in India (Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal).

Les sols sains constituent le plus grand réservoir de carbone sur la terre. Quand ils sont gérés de façon durable, les sols peuvent jouer un rôle important en faveur de l’atténuation du changement climatique, en stockant le carbone (séquestration) et en diminuant les émissions de gaz à effet de serre dans l’atmosphère.

"Enhancing country capacity for UNFCCC reporting processes for the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use sector: Costa Rica" summarizes the support provided by FAO between 2013 and 2016 to the government of Costa Rica, through the Monitoring and Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Mitigation in Agriculture (MAGHG) project. Costa Rica was among the eighteen countries attending the Second FAO Workshop on Statistics for Greenhouse gas Emissions , held from 3 to 4 June 2013 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
