UNASUR conmemoró el 23 de mayo de 2018, el décimo aniversario de la firma de su Tratado Constitutivo, con una sede permanente de su Secretaría Ejecutiva medio abandonada en Quito Ecuador, y una sede del Parlamento Sudamericano en Cochabamba Bolivia que se utilizó ocasionalmente un par de veces.

“El agua es vida” se dice comúnmente, y este dicho tiene aún mayor sentido en comunidades del mundo rural latinoamericano donde habitan 65,6 millones de personas, incluyendo a unas 45 millones de personas de más de 800 pueblos indígenas (CEPAL. Los pueblos indígenas en América latina: Avances en el último decenio y retos pendientes para la garantía de sus derechos. Santiago de Chile, 2014). El agua, es el bien común entorno del cual transcurre la vida rural, y el más complejo de gestionar.

At its 42nd Plenary session in 2015, the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) decided to hold a global thematic event at the 43rd session in October 2016 to share experiences and take stock of the use and application of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT), as a contribution to monitoring progress towards VGGT implementation. This second global stocktake on the VGGT is informed by the contributions received from stakeholders.
