The 2013 Global Hunger Index (GHI) report-the eighth in an annual series- presents a multidimensional measure of national, regional, and global hunger. It shows that the world has made some progress in reducing hunger since 1990, but still has far to go. The 2013 GHI report focuses on resilience in theory and in practice. The relief and development communities have long struggled to understand why some people fare better than others when confronting stresses or shocks.

Der Bericht zum Welthunger-Index 2013 – der achte in einer jährlich erscheinenden Serie – stellt die Entwicklung des weltweiten, regionalen und nationalen Hungers mittels eines mehrdimensionalen Indexwertes dar. Er zeigt, dass die Weltgemeinschaft bei der Bekämpfung des Hungers seit 1990 gewisse Fortschritte gemacht hat, dass aber noch viel zu tun ist.

“Environmental Perception Process of Desertification in Perú”, try to do an analysis and evaluation of Peruvian territory in terms of enviromental degradation due to problems of biodiversity loss, progressive loss of productive capacity land ecosystem in the climaterelevant ecological Peruvian territory. The purpose is to know the territorial spaces with problems of environmental degradation and prevention alternatives to existing problems.

This review summarizes the progress achieved on regional climate modeling activities over South America since the early efforts at the beginning of the 2000s until now. During the last 10 years, simulations with regional climate models (RCMs) have been performed for several purposes over the region. Early effortsweremainly focused on sensitivity studies to both physicalmechanisms and technical aspects of RCMs. The last developments were focused mainly on providing   high-resolution information on regional climate change.

En este trabajo se evaluó objetivamente la relación entre la variabilidad del rendimiento de la pastura en el departamento de Salto (Uruguay) y la variabilidad climática. Se analizaron también las posibles implicancias del cambio climático futuro. Se utilizaron datos diarios y mensuales de la estación meteorológica Salto en el período 1961-1990 y un registro de datos experimentales de crecimiento de pastura en el período 1980-1994. Adicionalmente, se emplearon salidas diarias de reanálisis del NCEP y de los Modelos de Circulación General HadCM3 y CSIRO-Mk2 para los escenarios A2 y B2.
