What information can I contribute?
In the Land Portal website, we distinguish different types of content. You can find the overview below.
As a 'regular' user, you are able to add certain types of content. If you have more information and would like to be able to add more resources, please contact us to upgrade your user status with more permission at hello@landportal.info.
News
News items are the most commonly published content type on the Land Portal. Along with news headlines, this section includes announcements from the land governance community such as calls for papers, launches of new publications or initiatives, and opportunities for grants, research, or jobs. News items will be displayed on the news page and can be promoted to the Land Portal home page by a site administrator.

Blogs
Blogs are short, often opiniated articles describing a particular issue. If you have a blog to share, you can add it as a Land Portal user, through this link. Blogs items will be displayed on the blogs page and are usually promoted widely by the Land Portal’s Communications Specialist, through social media as well as in the Land Portal’s news digest, which reaches over 15,000 subscribers from the land governance community.
Events
Users are encouraged to use the Land Portal to promote their global, regional, or in-country events on topics of interest to the land governance community. Examples include land-related conferences, workshops, or training seminars. Events will post to the events page and can be promoted to the home page by a site administrator.

Organizational profiles
If you want to profile the organization you work for, an institution you know that works on land-related issues or a publisher of a publication you are adding, you can create an organizational profile on the Land Portal. The organization will be displayed as a part of the Land Portal community.

Online discussions
The online discussions platform on the Land Portal are a powerful tool to capture knowledge and experiences that are not always incorporated in official datasets, publications or other information sources. As a Land Portal user, you are always welcome to contribute comments to any running discussions. If you have an interesting topic that you feel could serve as a valuable online discussion, please feel free to contact the Land Portal team to explore the options. Please note that facilitating an online discussion requires a lot of time and dedication to be succesful, and any discussions need to be approved by the Land Portal team.

Dataset
If you have a dataset with statistical indicators concerning land and property rights, you are welcome to submit these as well. Please consult this page for more information. Your dataset and indicators will be displayed in the Land Portal's Data Section.
What will happen with the information I contribute?
Information that you publish on the Land Portal will be published as Linked Open Data. Your information will be free to download, use and re-used by anyone - but you will always retain ownership.
This means that the information is available through our Linked Open Data triple store where people can download it, and your information is licensed according to a Creative Commons Attributions license. This means that users are free to use and re-use this information, if they credit the source. (The exception is the Land Library, where the license applies only to the metadata and not the publication itself.)
So when you add information to the Land Portal, please make sure that you have the correct permissions to publish this information. If your information is published without your permission, please contact us and we will remove the information right away.
Enriching your information through metadata
When adding information to the Land Portal, you will have to fill in several fields describing the information you are adding. These fields together make the metadata of your information. It will show users as well as machines what they can expect when they dig into your information. This makes your content much more discoverable and prone to be used!
To classify and structure the content on the website, the Land Portal makes use of several standard and controlled vocabularies. These are vocabularies that relate to the topic, geographical coverage, types of resources, among others. These vocabularies help you browse through content on the Land Portal website and search for particular information.
