This report presents results and conclusions from a Pilot exercise undertaken to assess the experience of
affected country Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) with
reporting on impact indicators under the Convention’s Performance Review and Assessment of the
Implementation System (PRAIS). The experiences and recommendations presented in this report should
be used to guide the 2012–2013 reporting and review process.

Neste estudo multidisciplinar aproveitou-se os trabalhos de manejo e conservação dos solos e da água em microbacias hidrográ ficas, que foram realizados no estado do Paraná , no ú ltimo quartel do sé culo XX, para avaliar se o preç o da terra é sensí vel à s melhorias ambientais. Avaliou-se, atravé s de mé todos economé tricos, o Programa Paraná Rural, em trê s faixas de prioridades na sua forma de aç ã o: alta, mé dia e baixa prioridade. A partir dessas diferenç as, na aplicaç ã o do Programa, esta pesquisa revelou existir relaç ã o positiva entre o mercado de terras e o meio ambiente.

We examined the preferences for wetland conservation among urban and rural dwellers in Malaysia. A choice experiment using face-to-face interviews with urban and rural households was employed. Wetland conservation alternatives were described in terms of environmental protection zones, biodiversity protection, recreational services and flood. Each alternative was connected to a cost for the household, which was a reduction in subsidies for daily goods. Using a latent class model, we identified three groups with distinctly different preferences.

As central policies for biodiversity conservation in agricultural landscapes in the European Union (EU), the Habitats Directive and Agri-environmental programmes (AEP) have largely failed to halt biodiversity loss. In response, the German federal state of Saxony combined the instrument of management plans with AEPs to support the implementation of the Habitat Directive. In this study, we investigate the determinants of a farmers’ decisions to adjust their farming practices.

No final de 2020, em meio a grave crise de saúde mundial do coronavírus, o Governo do Estado de São Paulo encaminhou à Assembleia Legislativa projeto de lei que, sob a justificativa de equilibrar as finanças, propunha extinguir vários órgãos públicos. Dentre esses, o Instituto Florestal, instituição de pesquisa com mais de 130 anos, responsável principal pelas pesquisas sobre a conservação e o manejo das unidades de conservação e áreas protegidas, últimos refúgios da biodiversidade paulista.
