Mauritanie

Située au nord-ouest de l'Afrique, plus des trois quarts de la Mauritanie est désertique ou semi-désertique. Seuls 0,5% des terres du pays sont considérés comme utiles pour l’agriculture, ce qui équivaut à 502 000 ha. Néanmoins, le secteur rural est un pilier important de l'économie mauritanienne contribuant à 17% du PIB et employant 21% de la population active. 62% de la population dépendent de l'agriculture, de l'élevage et de la pêche comme leurs moyens de subsistance. Le pays a obtenu son indépendance de la France en 1960. Son passé colonial se reflète dans sa législation qui s'inspire du Code français.
