La concentración parcelaria implica la redistribución de la propiedad, lo que provoca que los agricultores individuales obtengan menos parcelas, pero más contiguas y compactas y de mayor tamaño.
Land reform and its impact on livelihoods: evidence from eight land reform groups in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa
One of the key objectives of the South African land reform programme is to provide poor people with an additional asset that they could use to develop strategies to escape from poverty. Although land ownership patterns have begun to change, there is little evidence to show how land reform beneficiaries are using their land and whether it is making a significant impact on poverty reduction.This report is based on a study examining the assets, activities and income sources of a random sample of households chosen from eight land reform groups, looking at changes between 2001 and 2003.
Comparison between land suitability and actual crop distribution in an irrigation district of the Ebro valley (Spain)
El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar la correspondencia entre los resultados de una evaluación de tierras con la distribución real de los cultivos. Para ello la aptitud biofísica de las tierras se comparó con diferentes tipologías de frecuencia de ocurrencia de los cultivos y rotaciones derivadas de mapas de cultivos multitemporales. La investigación fue llevada a cabo en el distrito de riego de Flumen (33.000 ha), localizado en el valle del Ebro (NE España).
Tensions in land policy between EU-15 and the accession states of 2004

Ecological state of farmland in Bulgaria and measures for its preservation and improvement. A review
The area of arable land in Bulgaria continually decreases. Agricultural land is divided into 10 categories on the basis of soil quality and characteristics and into 8 classes on the basis of erosion degree. An increase of contaminated land has been observed. The most serious problem is water erosion as it affects 80% of the total arable land. On the contrary, the use of fertilizers and pesticides has decreased in recent years. Priority measures of the governmental policy have found place in the National Agriculture and Rural Development Plan over the 2000-2006 period.

Analysis of land fragmentation in rural areas

This paper discusses the factors that deter relocation, and those that hamper permanent settlement in new sites after the initial relocation has occurred. The study clarifies that access to new land entails leaving the home village for an unfamiliar environment.
