Land-use planning and sustainable biomass production for climate protection

General

In conformance with the EU Renewable Energy Sources Directive on sustainable production of liquid biomass and biofuels, the purpose of the project is to mitigate the negative consequences of uncontrolled land-use change (greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity loss, negative climate impacts and land-use conflicts) for the purpose of biomass cultivation in Indonesia, Colombia and Brazil. The affected regions will be mapped and methods developed for the identification of carbon-rich areas.
