The International Society for Horticultural Science - in short ISHS – is a truly global network comprising over 53,000 individuals, universities, governments, institutions, libraries and commercial companies, thousands of whom joined as Individual Members, in addition to a substantial number of Institutional Members and some 50 Member Countries/Regions. It is a major source of up-to-date information on global horticultural research. ISHS aims to promote research in all branches of horticulture. It encourages the development of international co-operation, bringing together scientific and technical professionals to stimulate, facilitate and co-ordinate research and scientific activities on a global scale.


The aim of the ISHS is "...to promote and encourage research and education in all branches of horticultural science and to facilitate cooperation and knowledge transfer on a global scale through its symposia and congresses, publications and scientific structure." Membership is open to all interested researchers, educators, students and horticultural industry professionals.

Review of walnut breeding research at the Shandong institute of pomology

At present, problems exist in walnut production in China. These include the diversity and at times low quality of available cultivars suggesting a need to simplify types and uses, the prevalence of serious diseases and the susceptibility to late frost damage. Together these are restricting the sustainable development of the industry. In the 21st century, Shandong Institute of Pomology, using intraspecific plus interspecific hybridization breeding and seedling selection, has created a collection of new walnut germplasms.

Soil erosion prediction in dry field using computational fluid dynamics simulation

The purpose of this study was to predict wind erosion in dry field in order to alleviate the wind-blown soil problems thereafter. A well-known computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was utilized to predict soil erodibility under changeable wind flows over complex terrain by coupling the erosion mechanism. The erosion mechanism was investigated by field measurements and derived as a modified form of the WEQ (wind erosion equation) to represent short-term wind erosion.

Mango resources information system: an open access portrayal of phenotypical, genetic and chemical information on mango

Mango Resources Information System was developed for management of phenotypic, genetic, molecular, chemical and other available information on indigenous and exotic mango cultivars. The information system is enriched with 682 accessions with the details of fruit, leaf and other characteristics. It has a collection of 26 expressed sequence tag (EST) and 285 nucleotide sequences present in mango varieties which contains complete and partial genomic sequences having the molecular type, generally genomic DNAs, m-RNAs and unassigned DNAs.

Throughout the Philippines' agrarian history, various interventions have been made to improve the lives of smallholder farmers, but the majority failed to materialize. In 1988, the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law (CARL) was passed, which sought to achieve more equitable land ownership, more empowered beneficiaries and improved livelihoods. This study aims to identify the factors affecting agrarian reform beneficiaries' (ARBs) perceptions of success or failure of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in Malita, Davao del Sur.

Study on the diurnal change of microclimate and human comfort in five types of land covers

The role of urban parks in the microclimatic conditions of cities in summer is investigated in this paper through monitoring campaigns carried out at the Beijing Olympic forestry park. Five kinds of land cover, namely urban woods, lawn, bare concrete cover, water areas and wetlands were selected to study on the temperature, humidity and human comfort. The air temperature and relative humidity were measured once every two hours from 8:00 to 20:00 every day and continuously three days in July 2010.
