The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. Cette étude est un document de synthèse dont l’objectif est de contribuer au développement d’une approche des SADA centrée sur le consommateur comme acteur autonome. Après un bref rappel sur la faible place qu’occupe le consommateur urbain africain dans les politiques, programmes et recherches sur les SADA africains, il est proposé un cadre d’analyse qui prenne en compte les différentes dimensions culturelles, sociologiques et économiques du concept de consommateur urbain en Afrique francophone de l’ouest.
