The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information. We help developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensure good nutrition for all. Since our founding in 1945, we have focused special attention on developing rural areas, home to 70 percent of the world's poor and hungry people.

El estado mundial de la agricultura y la alimentación 2008 analiza las consecuencias del rápido crecimiento de la producción de biocombustibles derivados de productos básicos agrícolas. La expansión de los biocombustibles líquidos ha sido provocada en gran parte por las políticas de los países desarrollados, basadas en una previsión positiva de los efectos de sus esfuerzos orientados a la mitigación del cambio climático, la seguridad energética y el desarrollo agrícola.
Vulnerability and Property Rights of Widows and Orphans in the Era of the HIV and AIDS Pandemic: A Case Study of Muleba and Makete Districts, Tanzania HIV/AIDS Programme, Working Paper 5
Safeguarding property rights of vulnerable people is an important policy issue, not least in the quest for poverty reduction in poor societies. This issue has become urgent due to recent developments, including the AIDS epidemic, globalization, climate change and other similar social and natural forces. This study sets out to assess the extent to which property and inheritance rights of widows and orphans are violated or protected in the context of HIV and AIDS in two rural communities in Tanzania.
MASSCOTE: Main Ganga Canal System
The Masscote application presented here has been initialized through a training workshop in Karnataka for engineers and managers from the KNNL focussing on Ghataprabha Left Bank Canal [GBLC] from 6 to 20 October 2006. The contributions of the working group sessions at this workshop (RAP–MASSCOTE) have been largely included in this report.

Ce document analyse la gouvernance foncière dans les divers pays d’Afrique centrale en relevant des problèmes communs et des mesures entreprises par les Etats. L’étude reconnaît que la corruption, la non application des lois, l’abus de pouvoir ou la confusion des rôles transparaissent dans la plupart des pays et représentent des défis majeurs pour l’application des principes de bonne gouvernance.
