The session explored the critical role of multi-actor partnerships in fostering inclusive and sustainable land reforms, with a focus on how successful experiences can be effectively scaled across different contexts. It examined the dynamics of multi-stakeholder collaborations at various levels—national, regional, and global—emphasizing the need for coordination to maximize long-lasting impacts. Through a combination of roundtable presentations and interactive working groups, the session provided a platform to reflect on the roles, processes, and challenges associated with multi-stakeholder land reform initiatives. Discussions addressed the importance of clearly defined roles within partnerships, noting that actors often assume multiple and evolving responsibilities, such as facilitators, legislators, or capacity-builders. Participants highlighted how clarity in these roles contributes significantly to the partnership’s success. The nature and stages of the partnerships were also analyzed, contrasting task-oriented initiatives focused on policy and legislative processes with broader efforts that include on-the-ground actions. These partnerships often evolve from the initial formation of alliances to institutionalized joint actions, requiring a careful balance between structure and flexibility. Challenges inherent to multi-actor partnerships were discussed, particularly the need to maintain adaptability in unpredictable environments while ensuring effective coordination among diverse stakeholders. Case studies of recent land reforms demonstrated the triggers for inclusive change, the knowledge gained, and the strategies for addressing gaps in the process. The session emphasized the importance of scaling up successful pilots and interventions to ensure they have a broader impact. Participants also debated modes of collaboration that can support more efficient and impactful partnerships, underlining that sustained, inclusive reforms depend on strong alliances that can adapt to contemporary challenges while remaining committed to equity and long-term outcomes.
