LAC Assists People from All Walks of Life
The LAC's main objective is to protect the human rights of all Namibians. It is the only organisation of its kind in Namibia. It has an office in Windhoek, Namibia's capital. It is funded primarily by national and international donor organisations. Its work is supervised by the Legal Assistance Trust, whose trustees include legal practitioners, other professionals and community leaders.

This Act makes provision for the registration of deeds relating to immovable property and the appointment of the Registrar of Deeds. It also provides rules for the alienation of land by the State, the manner of transfer of land in general and concerns rights in immovable property and related to leases. If the State alienates State land not previously registered in the name of any other person, then the State may transfer the ownership in the land to the transferee by means of a deed of grant issued in terms of proper authority.

This Notification made by the Minister of Lands and Resettlement in terms of section 39 of the Agricultural (Commercial) Land Reform Act, 1995, sets out number, location and description of farming units offered for allotment and invites, applications for the allotment of the farming units offered for allotment. Applications must be made in the manner stated in the Schedule. The Notice sets out minimum qualifications required to qualify of applicants.

The 81 sections of the Act are divided into 8 Parts: Land Reform Advisory Commission (I); Acquisition of Agricultural Land by State for Purposes of Land Reform (II); Preferential Right of State to Purchase Agricultural Land (III); Compulsory Acquisition of Agricultural Land (IV); Alienation of Agricultural Land (V); Restriction of Acquisition of Agricultural Land by Foreign Nationals (VI); The Lands Tribunal (VII); General (VIII).Acquired land shall be redistributed to Namibian citizens who do not own land or are otherwise disadvantaged.

This Act amends the Deeds Registries Act, 1937 in sections 2, 9, 17, 25, 45 and 102. It also inserts new sections on consequences to deeds of registration regarding immovable properties from dissolved marriages and repeals section 94.

This Notification made by the Minister of Lands and Resettlement in terms of Section 39 of the Agricultural (Commercial) Land Reform Act, 1995, sets out number, location and description of farming units offered for allotment and provides that an application for allotment of a farming unit must be made only by veterans of the Namibian liberation struggle determined in terms of the Veterans Act, 2008 (Act No. 2 of 2008) and on the form determined by the Minister of Veterans Affairs.
