How state and customary authorities deal with land issues has important consequences for how they are viewed by citizens.
The project ‘Grounded Legitimacy’ explored how interventions in land governance by development organizations feed into the legitimacy of state and non‐state public authorities, and how these development organizations may better take ‘legitimacy’ into account.
The Corruption Perceptions Index 2019 reveals a staggering number of countries are showing little to no improvement in tackling corruption. Our analysis also suggests that reducing big money in politics and promoting inclusive political decision-making are essential to curb corruption.
