An independent assessment report on land rights, land disputes, land grabbing and forced eviction situations and on the status of implementation of the Royal Government of Cambodia Directive No. 001 in terms of economic land concessons, social land concessions and the new land titling scheme.
This report provides background on Cambodia's legal framework, as well as data on the granting of social land concessions, reclassification of land, the land titling program, and land disputes. Dispute resolution mechanisms are also discussed.
Whereas 2011 had seen a sharp increase in the number of Economic Land Concessions (ELCs) granted by the Royal Government of Cambodia to private companies, in 2012 conflicts became more acute and protests multiplied.
