Lokniti on Land Grabbing: Changing the terrain of land tenure
Documents
The land grabbing phenomenon is a serious threat to small food producers’ food security as well as land tenure security. This edition of Lok Niti features caselets of land grabbing in several Asian countries, most of which were drawn from the proceedings of a regional workshop on public-private partnerships for land investments held in Bangkok last June 2011. The articles seek to contribute to the debates on land and inform policy advocacy. They underscore the lack of transparency of governments in land deals at the expense of poor communities, and the urgent need for communities to secure and defend their land rights.
