   Contemporary architecture has its roots from the vernacular Every cultural group in the world has its own form of vernacular though the approach may vary from place to place and from people to people Vernacular architecture has many values which are relevant to contemporary architecture today This paper looks at vernacular architecture in Nigeria as practised by two ethnic groups who have varying climatic religious and sociocultural practices The approaches to architecture by these two groups ie the Hausas and Igbos are looked at with the intention of finding positive values in the vernacul

   Cet article situe les débats actuels autour de l’accès genré aux terres collectives au Maroc par rapport à une discussion plus large sur l’héritage colonial et la fabrique du droit coutumier. La construction coloniale de la ‘collectivité ethnique’ et l’institutionnalisation du ‘droit coutumier’ ont préservé la coutume comme catégorie juridique mais elles ont rigidifié son application en l’inscrivant dans le cadre plus général du droit positif.

   This publication analyzes gender inequalities that constrain women’s roles in agriculture and food production, and in the long run undermine achievement of food and nutrition security in the Asia and Pacific region. It recommends priority interventions that would enhance food and nutrition security in the region by ending gender discrimination and empowering women. It argues for policy reforms to advance gender equality and strengthen country-owned food security strategies.

   This case study highlights the vulnerability of women in Fiaferana, who are disadvantaged, first, by their gender and indigenous heritage, and second, by their lack of tenure security in the midst of climate change. However, the women of Fiaferana have met these overlapping  challenges head-on through innovative and empowering strategies, including sustainable land use management.
