The aim of this Act is to prevent disputes concerning the possession of lands gained by alluvium or dereliction of a river or the sea.If the Collector, appointed by the Government, is credibly informed that a dispute is likely to arise he/she may by an order in writing attach such land, demarcate it with boundary pillars, appoint a receiver to manage it, invite claims to such land, and after examination send the list of claimants to the district judge for determination of title of the claimants. On receipt of the order of the district court, the collector shall put the person certified to be entitled to the land thereof.
