A Territorial Development Vision oriented to Indigenous Peoples: A possible path
The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) encouraged FAO at its VII Session to promote the recognition of indigenous peoples’ territorial rights.
In response, a first draft document A Territorial Development Vision oriented to Indigenous Peoples: A possible path was prepared and circulated amongst participants of the following Forum Session (VIII) as well as to various indigenous organizations.
On the basis of the positive response and comments received, over the last months a second (revised) version has been prepared in order to move forward in a more significant way in the debate among indigenous groups and PFII members on how to go about addressing the issues surrounding recognition of territorial rights.
We would like to stimulate a discussion in order to gather comments/suggestions to improve it.
