EMPLOYMENT: UNEP Program Officer--Facilitating Implementation Readiness for Mitigation (FIRM)
News
The Programme Officer will perform the following functions:
- Coordinate implementation of projects and activities undertaken by the Unit: Strengthen institutional infrastructures for climate change mitigation in developing countries; Promote development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments and other tools to assist in decision making; Analyze experience and drawing lessons on UNEP efforts to transfer climate relevant technology in support of the United Nations Framework on Convention on Climate Change objectives; Identify opportunities for coordination with other UNEP initiatives and collaborating partners; Contribute to knowledge management activities.
- Participate in development of climate change mitigation projects; collect and analyze information including technology; policy, regulatory developments, trends and recommendations; create links between existing technology transfer and institutional projects and National Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) developed in the framework of the international negotiations; Review and suggest ways of reorienting the work programme and workplan(s); respond to new priorities and external feedback.
- Coordinate communication and outreach to donors, partners and stakeholders; Ensure efficient internal and external communications; Enhance UNEP’s role in promoting information exchange of information on energy issues and links to environment and development agendas; Communicate with partners about common positions and joint activities.
